Physicist And Wife Cop Deal After Nuclear Secrets Sting

Law360, New York (June 24, 2013, 10:20 PM EDT) -- An American scientist and his wife pled guilty Friday to charges relating to their attempt to develop a secret nuclear weapons program for Venezuela, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.

Nuclear physicist Pedro Leonardo Mascheroni and his wife, Roxby, admitted to trying to share classified nuclear data with another nation after being caught by the FBI. The couple spent eight months communicating with an undercover FBI agent posing as a Venezuelan spy, according to a 2010 grand jury indictment.
