Pa. Officials Lose Mediation Bid In $60M NCAA Sanction Row

Law360, Philadelphia (June 26, 2013, 6:06 PM EDT) -- The Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court on Tuesday said it would not force the NCAA into mediation in a dispute over whether the state should be allowed to control $60 million in sanctions levied against Penn State University following the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal.

President Judge Dan Pellegrini rejected a bid by Sen. Jake Corman, R-Centre, and Treasurer Rob McCord to push the two sides into mediation, saying the NCAA had expressed no willingness to try to resolve the lawsuit outside the courtroom.
