Videoconferencing Patents Spur Another Suit

Law360 (November 17, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Patents for internet videoconferencing have sparked another lawsuit, with California-based Polycom Industries alleging that British online communications company Codian Inc. ripped off five of its patents for the audio and video streaming technology.

“Polycom has invested approximately $1 billion in research and development for video and voice conferencing advances and has over 500 patents issued and pending worldwide,” Polycom chairman and CEO Robert Hagerty. “We cannot remain idle while Codian infringes Polycom proprietary technology.”
