SF Chronicle Accused Of Unfair Ad Rates By Rival

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 8:01 PM EDT) -- The owners of the San Francisco Examiner filed suit Tuesday in California state court alleging a rival newspaper, the San Francisco Chronicle, has competed unfairly by offering artificially low rates for advertising space.

The San Francisco Newspaper Co. LLC, which owns the Examiner, alleges in state superior court that San Francisco Chronicle LLC, owner Hearst Corp. and several individuals affiliated with the Chronicle violated California state laws against unfair competition and unfair business practices by offering below-cost rates for display ads.
