Texas Gov. Hauls Lawmakers Back For Abortion, Roads Bills

Rick Perry on Wednesday told lawmakers to return to the capital July 1 to again tackle bills related to abortions and highway funding after a filibuster and citizen protests blocked the Texas Senate from voting out several bills in the first special session.

The governor, who has the authority to set the agenda for special sessions, has so far limited the issues to abortion regulations, transportation infrastructure funding and a criminal sentencing guideline, but could add new topics at any time during the 30-day...
