NYC Panels Back 10-Year Permit For Madison Square Garden

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 6:49 PM EDT) -- Two New York City Council committees voted Wednesday to limit Madison Square Garden's stay above Penn Station to 10 years, moving one step closer to freeing up the space to expand the transit hub.

The zoning and franchises subcommittee unanimously approved the measure to limit the arena to 10 more years at its current location on Pennsylvania Plaza, despite a New York City Planning Commission vote last week agreeing to a 15-year permit.
