8th Circ. Backs Atty Sanction For 'Vexatious' Foreclosure Case

Law360, New York (June 28, 2013, 7:14 PM EDT) -- The Eighth Circuit on Friday upheld a $10,000 sanction against a Minnesota attorney noted for defending homeowners against foreclosures, who is also subject to numerous previous penalties for bringing “vexatious” litigation rife with errors and false statements.

In an unpublished opinion, the three-judge panel found that William B. Butler of Butler Liberty Law LLC had moved forward with a frivolous complaint on behalf of 12 homeowners against Bank of America NA, BAC Home Loans Servicing LP, Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems Inc. and Fannie Mae.
