Apple, Samsung Drop Patents From 2nd Smartphone Case

Law360, New York (July 1, 2013, 2:30 PM EDT) -- In preparation for a second high stakes patent trial in California, Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. on Friday each agreed to drop two patents and older-model devices from the litigation in response to the court's prior request to narrow the case.

Apple said it will no longer go after Samsung's Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and Galaxy Tab 8.9; Samsung, meanwhile, indicated it will leave out Apple's iPhone 3G, first generation iPad and earlier models of the iPod Touch, according...
