Monster Beverage Faces Juice Mislabeling Action

Law360, New York (July 2, 2013, 3:19 PM EDT) -- Monster Beverage Corp. has been accused of fooling its customers by labeling its Hansen’s-branded juice drinks as free of added sugar despite regulations outlawing such claims for higher-calorie products, according to a suit filed Thursday in California state court.

The proposed class action filed in Alameda County court by plaintiff Frank Cuzakis claims that Monster subsidiary Hansen Beverage Co. has suckered consumers in California for years by slapping “No Sugar Added” graphics on outside pouches of Hansen’s apple grape juice, pineapple grape juice, organic apple juice...
