Marvel Says Judge Should Decide 'Ghost Rider' Rights Case

Law360, New York (July 3, 2013, 6:27 PM EDT) -- Marvel Enterprises Inc. on Wednesday sought to have an upcoming trial that will determine whether it owns the rights to the "Ghost Rider" character decided by a judge rather than a New York jury.

Marvel filed a motion seeking to strike plaintiff Gary Friedrich's request to have the first phase of the case, which will determine who owns the Ghost Rider copyright, decided by a jury. Friedrich, an artist, claims he created the popular comic book anti-hero and that the copyright for the character reverted to him from Marvel.
