Dispute Derails Lead-Tainted Toy Train Settlement

Law360, New York (January 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A proposed settlement in a class action suit against RC2 Corp. over toy trains tainted with lead has reportedly been halted by a judge due to a disagreement among lawyers for the plaintiffs in the case.

RC2 Corp., which manufactured Thomas the Tank Engine toys found to contain lead, agreed last week to a $30 million settlement proposal.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Cook County Circuit Court Judge William O. Maki halted the settlement Tuesday because of a disagreement between attorneys representing competing groups of plaintiffs...
