Penn State Ex-President To Sue Freeh For Libel, Defamation

Law360, New York (July 12, 2013, 1:37 PM EDT) -- Former Pennsylvania State University president Graham B. Spanier filed documents in state court Thursday launching a libel and defamation case against Louis Freeh, the former FBI director who compiled a critical report on university officials’ alleged cover-up of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Spanier filed a praecipe to issue a writ of summons with the Court of Common Pleas in Centre County to initiate a libel and defamation action naming as defendants Louis Freeh and Philadelphia-based Pepper Hamilton LLP, which acquired Freeh’s firm, Freeh...
