DOD Issues New Guidance To Furloughed Contracting Staff

Law360, New York (July 15, 2013, 5:09 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense told its acquisition staff not to let its struggles with unpaid furloughs undermine the working relationship between the DOD and its contractors.

The DOD began furloughing about 85 percent of its 718,000 civilian employees on July 8, as a result of sequestration, a budget-cutting measure that was intended as a fallback to failed congressional negotiations on reducing the federal deficit.
