NY AG Wants Details On $575M In Sandy Charitable Donations

Law360, New York (July 17, 2013, 3:13 PM EDT) -- New York's attorney general on Wednesday raised questions about how more than $575 million raised by charities for victims of Superstorm Sandy is being spent, noting that $238 million of that sum remains to be handed out and cautioning he is watching for fraud, especially in cash grants.

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman outlined some of his findings on Sandy-related contributions and spending in a report released Wednesday and said he will be asking 50 charitable organizations to provide detailed accounting of their activities.
