Stonebridge Must Cough Up Spam-Text Campaign Docs

Law360, San Francisco (July 18, 2013, 5:47 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge Thursday ordered Stonebridge Life Insurance Co. to turn over documents detailing past text-message campaigns by co-defendant Trifecta Marketing Group in a class action accusing the pair of spamming nearly 60,000 customers with messages falsely promising free Wal-Mart gift cards.

U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley said Thursday that the documents are potentially evidence in the case and therefore subject to the rules of discovery. Stonebridge objected to the plaintiffs' request for the documents, claiming the insurance company had never worked...
