National Grid Won't Hit Flood-Stricken New Yorkers With Fees

Law360, New York (July 19, 2013, 5:51 PM EDT) -- New York utility regulators said Thursday that National Grid PLC's central New York gas and electric utility Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. would suspend late payment charges for thousands of Mohawk Valley residents who were hit by storm-related flooding in June and early July.

More than 1,200 homeowners will require significant assistance, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said earlier in the week, and the tab for the state could reach $10 million, the Democratic governor said. For now, however, they will not have to grapple with their local utility...
