Foundation Seeks $4M From Attys' Fees In Tribal Land Deal

Law360, New York (July 19, 2013, 4:42 PM EDT) -- The nonprofit Lannan Foundation sued class counsel Wednesday in a massive lawsuit over mismanagement of Native American trust funds, accusing Dennis Gingold and Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP of refusing to pay the foundation $4.5 million from a $99 million attorneys' fees award.

The foundation made 11 grants totaling $7.8 million to help fund the so-called Indian Trust Fund Litigation and is entitled to a share of the attorneys' fees under the grant agreements, according to a complaint filed in District of Columbia federal court. The...
