NJ Launches $100M Program To Elevate Homes Post-Sandy

Law360, New York (July 22, 2013, 2:57 PM EDT) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on Monday unveiled a new $100 million home improvement grant program to help residents in nine counties hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy elevate their homes to protect against future storm surges.

Under the so-called Hazard Mitigation Grant Program’s elevation program, eligible applicants can get reimbursements of up to $30,000 to elevate existing single-family homes so that they comply with recently updated federal flood maps, according to Christie.
