Safeco, Builder Sued Over $2.7M Construction Subcontract

Law360, New York (July 23, 2013, 6:07 PM EDT) -- Miami-based Hard J Construction Corp. slapped Coastal Construction Group of South Florida Inc. and Safeco Insurance Co. of America with a lawsuit Friday in Florida state court contending Coastal has refused to pay a $2.7 million school construction subcontract it inked with Hard J.

Hard J says it upheld its end of the subcontract and even had to perform work that was outside the scope of the agreement. It contends Coastal has intentionally withheld the payment funds and wants the company to pay up. But it's...
