Judge Nixes Paxil Warning-Label Suit Against Glaxo

Law360, New York (February 1, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal judge has dismissed a suit against GlaxoSmithKline that claimed the labeling for its antidepressant Paxil should have included warnings of an increased risk of suicidality a decade ago.

Judge Frank C. Damrell Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California granted summary judgment Wednesday to GSK, dismissing the product liability suit brought against GSK by the family of 14-year-old Benjamin Bratt, who attempted suicide in 1997 and later died.
