BP Hit With $8.7M Suit Over Propane Scheme

Law360, New York (February 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- BP Products North America Inc. was hit with a lawsuit Friday alleging BP schemed to corner the market on propane in the gas distribution network of eastern Texas.

The civil suit is the latest of a series of accusations leveled at BP over its alleged scheme to corner the market, including an enforcement action by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission in 2006, which it has settled for over $300 million, and a criminal action by the Department of Justice against several BP traders.
