Class Certified In Antitrust Suit Against Title Insurer

Law360, New York (February 4, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- An antitrust class action accusing Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Co. of overcharging customers who refinanced their homes will proceed, now that a federal judge has certified the class.

Judge Eduardo Robreno of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania ruled Jan. 31 that the class of plaintiffs would comprise those “who purchased title insurance from the commonwealth within 10 years of a prior purchase of title insurance.”

Judge Robreno said other courts nationwide “have certified similar classes of insurance purchasers bringing similar claims...
