US Contractor Convicted In $136M Scam Can't Duck Verdict

Law360, New York (July 29, 2013, 1:56 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge refused Friday to overturn the conviction of a businessman who was found guilty of fraudulently winning $136 million in federal highway construction contracts set aside for minorities, saying the government’s case was sound.

U.S. District Judge Sylvia H. Rambo rejected Joseph W. Nagle’s lengthy post-trial motion seeking an acquittal on his 26-count criminal conviction and a new trial, saying the government presented ample evidence and witnesses demonstrating that Nagle knowingly or was intimately involved in the contract fraud scheme.
