Schneider Electric Puts Up $5.2B To Acquire Invensys

Law360, New York (July 31, 2013, 12:25 PM EDT) -- France's Schneider Electric SA said Wednesday that it plans to buy U.K. software maker Invensys for £3.4 billion ($5.2 billion), a deal that the companies say will create a global leader in industrial automation.

The cash-and-stock deal follows discussions and a preliminary takeover bid from Schneider announced earlier in July, which valued Invensys' shares at a slightly higher price but offered less cash than Wednesday's deal.
