Nestle Drops Freshfields For Howrey As Lead Counsel

Law360 (February 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Wary of a potential conflict of interest, Nestle Inc. has chosen Howrey LLP as its lead antitrust counsel in Brussels to replace Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, which has advised Nestle's competitor Mars Inc.

Nestle, famous for such products as Nesquick and Kit Kat Bars, rivals Mars, which makes snacks such as M&Ms and Skittles.

Nestle was reportedly satisfied with Freshfields' work, but the business conflict of interest necessitated that the firm be replaced, following a European panel review.
