Watchdog Group Lays Pay-For-Play Claims On Forest City

Law360, New York (August 6, 2013, 3:56 PM EDT) -- A nonprofit watchdog group accused New York-based Forest City Enterprises Inc. of trading political donations for billions of dollars in subsidies in a Tuesday report dissecting the $10.6 billion company's transactions over the last decade.

The public finances 23 percent of Forest City's revenue through the firm's strategy of lobbying, campaign contributions and strategic hiring of government officials in exchange for public subsidies for projects, according to the report from Cause of Action, a self-described nonprofit, nonpartisan government accountability organization.
