Telecom Co. Wrongly Contacted Opt-In Plaintiffs In OT Row

Law360, New York (August 9, 2013, 2:19 PM EDT) -- Cable service installer GAB Telecom Inc. improperly made contact with potential members of a class action brought by six of its former technicians by sending discovery questionnaires directly to potential plaintiffs instead of to their attorneys, a Michigan federal judge ruled Thursday.

District Judge Gershwin A. Drain ruled that GAB's conduct could have deterred potential plaintiffs from opting into the suit. As a remedy, the judge extended the action's opt-in deadline, which previously expired in June, to Aug. 19.
