Harbinger Sues Deere, GPS Makers For $2B Over LightSquared

Law360, New York (August 9, 2013, 6:16 PM EDT) -- Harbinger Capital Partners LLC on Friday hit Deere & Co. and some GPS makers with a $1.9 billion suit alleging they withheld crucial information related to spectrum usage that ultimately drove the hedge fund’s wireless startup, LightSquared Inc., into bankruptcy.

The Philip Falcone-controlled fund blames Deere, Garmin International Inc., Trimble Navigation Ltd., the U.S. GPS Industry Council and the Coalition to Save Our GPS for keeping it from using the spectrum LightSquared was approved for by the Federal Communications Commission and causing Harbinger to suffer enormous...
