Champps Charges For 'Kobe Beef' It's Not Serving, Suit Says

Law360, Chicago (August 9, 2013, 5:39 PM EDT) -- An Illinois consumer hit the operator of the Champps Americana Bar and Grill restaurant chain with a putative class action in state court Friday alleging that the company charges its customers for "Kobe beef" when it's actually serving cheaper and lower-quality forms of beef.

Plaintiff Rene Hertsberg alleges that though he and other consumers ordered and paid for menu items such as burgers and sliders labeled and described as containing Kobe beef at Champps Operating Corp.'s restaurants, none of those dishes actually contained the specialty meat....
