Production Co. Can't Escape 'Dungeons & Dragons' IP Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (August 9, 2013, 9:02 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Friday rejected Sweetpea Entertainment Inc.'s bid to escape a Hasbro Inc. copyright suit over a new Dungeons & Dragons movie, ruling it was too early in the litigation to decide whether the film is based on an infringing script.

U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee said it was premature for production company Sweetpea to move for summary dismissal of Hasbro's copyright and trademark infringement claims when it has yet to answer the complaint and the parties have not conducted any discovery....
