Gossip Site Denied Immunity In Ex-Bengals Cheerleader's Suit

Law360, New York (August 12, 2013, 8:27 PM EDT) -- A Kentucky federal judge Monday said a gossip website that recently lost a defamation trial against a former pro football cheerleader did not deserve immunity under the Communications Decency Act because the site's creator allegedly contributed to the defamatory posts.

Defendants Dirty World LLC, TheDirty.com and its owner, Hooman Karamian, also known as Nik Richie or Corbin Grimes, had asked U.S. District Judge William O. Bertelsman to grant them immunity under the CDA before trial, a request he denied. The defendants have already appealed that decision and...
