Apple Drops Antitrust Claim Against Samsung In 2nd Trial

Law360, Los Angeles (August 14, 2013, 3:29 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. on Wednesday agreed to drop antitrust claims in its epic patent row against Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., further narrowing the number of claims slated to be heard in a second high-stakes trial scheduled for next year in California.

In response to an April order by U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh telling the companies to streamline the case, Apple signed a joint stipulation dismissing without prejudice its counterclaims that Samsung violated the Sherman Antitrust Act and California's Unfair Competition Act through its actions in the wireless technology market....
