Swimsuit Retailer Accused Of Harvesting Customer Info

Law360, New York (August 16, 2013, 4:57 PM EDT) -- Women’s swimwear retailer Canyon Beachwear LLC was hit with a proposed class action Wednesday in California court attacking its alleged practice of extracting private information from customers at points of sale.

Canyon Beachwear customer Christy Luckey is accusing the specialty retailer of systematically directing its clerks to request so-called personally identifying information such as home addresses, telephone numbers and ZIP codes from its customers when ringing up credit card transactions.
