Officials Arrest 2 More In $140M Penny Stock Fraud

Law360, New York (August 20, 2013, 5:34 PM EDT) -- Two more defendants have been arrested in Thailand as part of a $140 million penny stock fraud scheme that bilked investors in 35 countries and led to one of the largest investigations of its kind, U.S. federal prosecutors said Tuesday.

Thai officials working with FBI and U.S. Embassy personnel in Bangkok arrested Sandy Winick, the supposed ringleader of the scheme, on Saturday, according to prosecutors in the Eastern District of New York. Authorities arrested co-defendant Gregory Curry on Tuesday, prosecutors announced. Both are Canadian citizens....
