Chocolate Maker Faces $3M Clean Air Act Permit Suit

Law360, New York (August 21, 2013, 2:57 PM EDT) -- Illinois environmental regulators slapped a chocolate manufacturer with a $3.4 million suit in state court on Monday, accusing the company of releasing air pollutants from its Chicago processing facility for nearly a year without securing the proper Clean Air Act permit.

World's Finest Chocolate Inc.'s gas-fired boilers and cocoa bean roasting equipment have been illeagally emitting nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide and other pollutants since its permit expired in September 2012, according to the suit.
