8th Circ. Hands Don King Win In Boxing Contract Dispute

Law360, Los Angeles (August 22, 2013, 4:03 PM EDT) -- The Eighth Circuit has affirmed a lower court’s decision to dismiss Capital Promotions LLC’s lawsuit alleging Don King Promotions Inc. intentionally interfered in Capital’s promotional rights agreement with a professional boxer, finding that summary judgment was proper, according to an opinion filed Thursday.

Capital said that boxer Walter Tyeson Fields was injured, which extended the PRA for an additional six months. DKP, however, signed Fields to a competing promotional contract and had him engage in a fight in direct violation of the PRA, Capital claimed. A...
