Challenge To AMR Merger Voids Ch. 11 Plan, Customers Say

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 5:07 PM EDT) -- The possibility that regulators will thwart the $11 billion merger between bankrupt AMR Corp. and US Airways Group Inc. should justify denying the airline’s reorganization plan because the plan depends on the merger, airline customers told a New York bankruptcy judge on Thursday.

But the parent company of American Airlines fired back on Friday, arguing that denying the confirmation plan would add an unwarranted element of uncertainty to the proceedings.
