Hollywood Wants Tougher Piracy Laws, But Odds Are Unclear

Law360, New York (August 23, 2013, 9:02 PM EDT) -- Movie studios pushed for stricter copyright laws this week and said recent private-industry initiatives aren't enough in the fight against online piracy, but after the high-profile failure of legislation last year, experts are unclear on what kind of changes are realistic.

As the ultimately unsuccessful drive for the Stop Online Piracy Act and Protect IP Act showed, enacting tougher laws for online copyrights is an immensely difficult proposition, with strong and widely divergent opinions coming from the many members of the Internet ecosystem.
