Avon Ducks Animal Testing False Ad Class Action

Law360, New York (August 26, 2013, 5:36 PM EDT) -- Avon Products Inc. on Friday escaped a class action in California federal court accusing the cosmetics giant of deceiving consumers by marketing its products as cruelty-free while engaging in animal testing in China and other foreign countries.

In a joint dismissal motion, Avon and plaintiffs Maria Beltran, Renee Tellez and Nichole Gutierrez agreed to drop the litigation with prejudice, shutting down a dispute in which plaintiffs initially sought more than $100 million in damages from Avon and a pair of rivals over their animal testing policies....
