US Urges Fed. Circ. To Affirm Calif. Water Ruling

Law360, New York (August 26, 2013, 7:47 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government on Monday urged the Federal Circuit to uphold a lower court decision finding it was not obligated to provide drainage services to a California water district, arguing that the contracts at work plainly do not include such a requirement.

The government wants the appeals court to throw out a lawsuit brought by the Westlands Water District, which buys water from the federal Central Valley Project and distributes it to farmers for the irrigation of about 500,000 acres in Merced, Fresno, and Kings Counties....
