Sierra Club Seeks To Force EPA's Hand On SO2 Standards

Law360, New York (August 27, 2013, 4:36 PM EDT) -- The  U.S. Environmental Protection Agency was hit with a lawsuit Monday in California federal court by the Sierra Club and the Natural Resources Defense Council seeking to force the agency to take action on revised standards for the emission of the air pollutant sulfur dioxide.

The EPA has missed a deadline to identify violations of an updated National Ambient Air Quality Standard on sulfur dioxide, and is therefore in violation of its duties to protect the health and welfare of the public, according to the complaint....
