Ex-JPMorgan Trader Arrested In Spain Over $6B 'Whale' Loss

Law360, New York (August 27, 2013, 10:13 AM EDT) -- Spanish police have arrested Javier Martin-Artajo, one of the former JPMorgan Chase & Co. traders charged by U.S. prosecutors earlier this month with masking the severity of the bank’s $6 billion “London Whale” derivatives trading loss, authorities said Tuesday.

Martin-Artajo turned himself in Tuesday morning after speaking with Spanish enforcement officials, and was due to appear before a Madrid judge, the National Police said in a statement. U.S. officials had previously issued an arrest warrant for him, the police added.
