France-Based Employee Can Sue Under SOX: Court

Law360, New York (February 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A former employee in the Paris office of consulting firm Accenture Ltd. who claimed that she was penalized for pointing out an accounting problem can sue the company in the U.S. under the whistleblower provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, a federal judge has ruled.

Judge Victor Moreno of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled last week that Rosemary O'Mahony could sue Bermuda-based Accenture in the U.S. even though she worked for the company in France.
