MRI Diagnostic Co. Pays $3.6M To End Kickback, FCA Claims

Law360, Washington (August 28, 2013, 2:28 PM EDT) -- A New York-based MRI diagnostic testing company, its former owners and chief radiologist agreed to pay nearly $3.6 million over whistleblower allegations that it submitted false Medicare and Medicaid claims and had “improper financial relationships” with physicians, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Tuesday.

The DOJ alleged that Imagimed LLC filed claims with Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare from 2001 through 2008 for MRI scans performed with contrast dye. However, the company failed to provide patients with proper supervision required under federal regulations.
