Calif. Limits Employers From Collecting Fee Awards

Law360, San Diego (August 28, 2013, 7:09 PM EDT) -- Gov. Jerry Brown on Monday signed into law a measure intended to clarify a California Supreme Court decision by limiting when employers can obtain attorneys' fee awards if they are defendants in worker wage claim disputes.

S.B. 462, which was sent to the governor after clearing the state Assembly on a 49-26 vote earlier this month and the state Senate on a 26-9 vote in May, requires employers that prevail in cases over nonpayment of wages, benefits or pension contributions to show workers sued them in...
