Watchdog Gives Rutgers Mixed Grade On Contracting Practices

Law360, New York (August 28, 2013, 5:35 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey government watchdog said Wednesday that Rutgers University has improved how it awards public contracts but should take additional steps to increase competition for taxpayer-funded projects and services.

Revisiting the findings of a 2011 audit, the Office of the State Comptroller said that Rutgers — which has a 2013 budget that includes more than $400 million in state appropriations — still opposes efforts to bring the university under state public bidding requirements and restricts competition to a select group of bidders on certain contracts....
