Sheppard Mullin Faces Daily Fine In LendingTree IP Fight

Law360, New York (August 29, 2013, 7:33 PM EDT) -- A North Carolina federal judge on Tuesday ordered Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP attorneys representing Lending Tree LLC in a patent suit against NexTag Inc. to comply with a discovery order by the end of the week or face a daily $5,000 fine.

U.S. District Judge Frank D. Whitney gave the attorneys until noon Friday to comply with a motion to compel filed by NexTag in June. If the deadline is not met, Judge Whitney said the attorneys must pay NexTag $5,000 a day until...
