Dallas City Council Rejects Fracking Permits On City Land

Law360, Dallas (August 29, 2013, 8:33 PM EDT) -- The Dallas City Council on Wednesday denied an energy company’s request for special use permits that would allow it to drill gas wells in the Barnett Shale, as the city continues to debate how to regulate fracking within its borders.

The council voted 9-6 to approve permits that would have allowed Trinity East Energy LLC to drill gas wells on land it leased from the city, but the permits needed 12 votes to pass because the city planning commission in March opposed the measures. Attention now...
