Chesapeake To Pay $7.5M To Settle Pa. Fracking Fees Action

Law360, Philadelphia (September 3, 2013, 1:55 PM EDT) -- Chesapeake Appalachia LLC reached a $7.5 million settlement with a set of Pennsylvania landowners on Friday in a class action attacking the company's deduction of natural gas drilling post-production costs from royalty payments.

The proposed settlement, which came after over two months of mediation, means that class members will be paid 55 percent of post-production costs prior to Sept. 1 and 27.5 percent of post-production costs until the effective date of the settlement.
