Patent Holder Reaps $40M In Circuit Tech Infringement Case

Law360, New York (September 4, 2013, 8:54 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Wednesday awarded more than $40 million to Pact XPP Technologies AG, finding California tech giant Xilinx and electronics distributor Avnet Inc. had infringed the German licensing company’s patents covering integrated circuit related technology.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Roy S. Payne affirmed a previous jury award of $15.4 million and directed Xilinx to pay another $23 million in enhanced damages for willful infringement, as well as almost $2.3 million in attorneys’ fees.
